Grateful Spirit Yoga Studio Schedule

Grateful Spirit is a small studio offering individualized attention to each student who comes through the doors. Please come a few minutes early to orient yourself to the studio. We ask that you remove your shoes upon entering the studio. You may borrow a Yoga mat or bring your own. Please introduce yourself to the teacher, sign a waiver if it is your first visit to the studio, pay class fees directly to them and advise them of any health issues to ensure they support you to remain safe and comfortable. Silence your cell phones and have a great class!


Yoga Plus with Crystal Holt

Tuesdays 9:30am – 10:30am 60 minute class

Begins April 12

This class is for those that identify themselves as curvy, plus size, or larger. If you have been wanting to do yoga but feel too intimidated to go to a regular yoga class, this class is for you. Props and verbal cues will be used to find the most comfortable position in your body. It will give you a chance to connect with your body and learn to appreciate it more.

1.11 Vibe Yoga Meditation with Bryan Ratkay

Tuesdays 5:45 pm – 7pm 75 minute class

Begins April 3
Class begins by opening the body to receive the healing sounds of the Gongs with some gentle yoga, breath work, mantras. Followed by meditation and relaxation, laying down while we are being tuned by the sounds of the gong or gongs. Sacred instruments such as, Tibetan and crystal bowls, bells, chimes, and more may also be included. Be prepared to receive a very deep internal vibration massage produced by the sacred sound waves. Bringing back alive the ancient practices of the sleeping temples of Egypt and Greece to repair and heal the Body, the Mind.

Restorative Yoga Therapy with Brooke

Wednesdays, 5:45pm – 7:00pm

Brooke’s classes are always gentle and therapeutic.  Experience mentally calming, spiritually awakening, physically energizing and emotionally relaxing Yoga, including natural relief for pain, depression, anxiety, insomnia and traumatic stress. If your health care provider suggested Yoga or meditation, this is the class for you! Yoga for self-care, balance, peace and well-being. No previous Yoga experience necessary.

Thursdays, 9:30am – 10:15am 75 minute class

An all-levels class to nourish mind, body & spirit. Develop your practice through a series of gentle movements, posture, attention to breath & seated meditation. Oils & Therapeutic Touch will be offered.

Restorative Yoga Therapy with Brooke

Meet your body and mind where they are. Gentle poses to strengthen, stretch and relax. Practice will be tailored to those present. Relaxation and meditation instruction for newbies and enthusiasts. Focus on relaxation and calmness.

Healing & Transformational Film Festival

Six films over three days: Wednesday, April 4, Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7. Donation-based film viewings at Grateful Spirit Yoga support Hopedance and Grateful Spirit Yoga’s collaborative efforts to educate our community on integrative health and to stimulate conscious conversation for social renewal.

Wednesday, April 4

6pm – 8pm The Goddess Project Traveling through the diverse landscapes of America, The Goddess Project will explore the many ways in which women are realizing their potential, overcoming their fears, and propelling our world into a new state of consciousness.

8pm – 10pm Yogawoman Women have embraced yoga for easing health conditions like breast cancer, infertility, heart disease, and anxiety and depression. Yoga has transformed the lives of women in prison, cancer survivors, and those struggling with body image or eating disorders with candor. And beyond these circumstances, we witness how women have integrated yoga into their daily lives so they are happier, healthier, and more fulfilled — allowing them to give back to others with full hearts and creative minds.

Friday, April 6

6pm – 8pm Crazywise Crazy…or wise? The traditional wisdom of shamans and indigenous cultures often contradicts modern views about a mental health crisis. Is it a ‘calling’ to grow or just a ‘broken brain’? The documentary CRAZYWISE explores what can be learned from people around the world who have turned their psychological crisis into a positive transformative experience.

8pm – 10pm Healing Voices A feature-length documentary examining experiences commonly labeled as ‘psychosis’ or ‘mental illness’ in society, a critical look at America’s broken mental health care system and how peer support systems enhance recovery.

Saturday, April 7

6pm – 8pm Neurons To Nirvana A stylish, in depth look at the renaissance in psychedelic drug research in light of current scientific, medical and cultural knowledge.

8pm – 10pm Heal We have more control over our health and life than we have been taught to believe. This film will empower you with a new understanding of the miraculous nature of the human body and the extraordinary healer within us all.


Yin for Anxiety

Anxiety, Anger and “Asshole” mindset all stem from the same root emotion. Join Gina for a morning of self exploration and heart work as we mindfully tap into triggers, surrender to WHAT IS and release our desire to control things we cannot.

Gina Hobbs has lived and practiced on the central coast for over 30 years. Yin Yoga and meditation are at the forefront of her service and invites everyone to come and “chalk out” time and space to just BE with absolutely no expectation but the readiness to receive.  It is her firm belief that we do not come to the mat to “do” Yoga, we come to the mat because we “are” Yoga.

Restorative Practices for Anxiety and Depression Relief

Saturday, April 21

2pm- 4:30pm

Right now, we all need calm, quiet, nurturing places to slow down. Indulge in deep relaxation.

This afternoon is a practice of rest and comfort.

Gentle, restorative Yoga practices (including specific breathing to soothe and balance, weighted blanket therapy and beginning meditation) can relieve trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia and pain in a very short time.

Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra (the “Yogic Science of Sleep – not quite awake, not quite asleep) and meditation are therapeutic interventions for even the most severe PTSD.

Relaxation is one of the most difficult skills to master. Learn to bring yourself out of the stress response (fight-flight-freeze) and reintroduce yourself to intuition, inspiration, comfort and being “in the flow.”

This is a relaxation-based Yoga class. No previous Yoga experience is required.

Healing Sound Bath

Saturday, April 28

6:30 PM – 8 PM

Bryan will be playing his phenomenal set of planetary gongs, each attuned to the chakras in your body. Along with Crystal Healing and Tibetan bowls, the sound vibrations omitted by these planetary gongs and bowls will encompass and permeate your body, encouraging your body to harmonize with the balanced vibrations.

The Planetary Gongs, crystal bowls and yoga practice of Savasana (resting pose) are all magnificently healing on their own. We may have let go of old wounds, set ourselves on a confident track, cried, laughed, and gone deep into meditation within each of these practices separately. When the forces of these healing modalities are brought together, wow, the experience is powerful!

You are in for a life-changing treat and we can’t wait to share it with you! This event is a fundraiser to help re-open the doors of Grateful Spirit Yoga Center, a Yoga therapy- and recovery-based body-mind studio.
